It's not even a month old. Do you think I would be able to get back most of the money I spent on it? I really would like to get ahold of a D70...

Why do you think D70 worth all the trouble? not that i am against d70, I think 300d is equally great camera, d70 has it's own limitation

If it's not even a month old and in perfect condition, packaging all still there, can you return it to the shop (for a credit note if not for cash) and buy the D70 from them?

Depends where you bought it. For instance amazon have a 30 day no quibble returns policy. so you might be able to just take it back.

Perhaps if you time it right you can keep changing em every time someone bring out a new camera. Personly I think the 300D is as good as the D70 specialy since I dumped the kit lense for the Canon 28-135

This is what I would do... return it to the store where you got it from.

I bought my rebel from Henry's in Toronto. They have a program where you can return any dslr camera you bought from them in the last six months and they will pay you 50% of what you originally paid for it. So I'm thinking of returning my rebel I could get a credit for Cdn$749.50 (50% of the cost of the rebel body) And I can use this credit to buy the Canon EOS 10D. My friend has one, and it's a sweet camera.

It won't be long before Canon makes an upgrade to the 300D. Are you going to want to switch back as soon as it is released? Make sure switching systems is what you want to do. Once you buy a couple lenses for either system, you're more or less locked it in that point.

Can those unhappy post specifically what you don't like about your Rebel?

If that is the case, I've got 2 days to decide if I want to return it and get the D70! =X
