Looks like you got plenty on the uni front and I cannot add cause I have never been to a US uni.... On the scare thing... tell her to suck it up - good luck finding those words :-) She will get used to it. Mine freaked for a few years when I was living on the other side of the world (especially with the ira bombings in London at the time) [then went thru it again when grandkids came along but that's not part of your question]. |

But very lucky and useful for me!
My son is going to the US on a soccer scholarship this year and I wish I had seen this thread before; it has some great information. He's planning on going to Illinois - anybody have any inside knowledge on Lewis University?
He has family in other parts of the US but it would be great if he could connect with some of the DP community in that area (even though video is more his thing) |

Lewis is a small sized Catholic university in the outskirts of the Chicagoland area. They have a number of good major programs and are known for their criminal justice major among others. Being a Division II school in sports, they do offer limited numbers of scholarships, so I assume this is what your son is after.
As I recall, it is a bit 'isolated' from the town, so it can be a good thing, and it can be a bad thing. Good in that you can send your kid there, they will end up on campus most of the time, focusing on studies and sports. Bad, that he may not be crazy about living near the corn fields....
I hope he can visit prior to committing to attend so he can get a feel for the school and make a sound decision. |

Thanks very much, Bassbone, that's helpful. |

Does anyone live near or know anything about University of Wisconsin Greenbay?
Any advice about what my brother should expect if he definitely decides to go here would be greatly appreciated :) |
Bring lots of warm clothing, thermal underwear, winter survival gear and be prepared to freeze his tutu off... other than that...meh.
