I just got it configured. Made it do a simple trick tonight. I can't wait to take this baby to school tomorrow and get the 6th graders using it. They will have a blast! |

Basically you can hand code it by making a database-like table in excel marking each point with a series of numbered coordinates, or the gui interface allows you to simply move it, record the points, and move to the next one. Very simple. Now that I see how this stuff works I am going to design and build my own bigger/better model. I just need to finish up my school, and maybe summer of next year I will build a photo taking robot arm. |

Pretty cool! Looks like a blast. Kind of like a souped-up Radioshack Armatron that I always wanted as a kid. |

I remember that thing! This is a very simple arm, half a dozen servos make it run. The next one I build is going to expand on this. I would like a swivel arm, and some sensors so that it can determine on its own where the blocks are that need to be picked up. But again, I will have to have more time in order to make that happen.

Watching the vid, I see that it would be pretty easy to reprogram so that it would rotate the blocks 1/4 turn toward the arm at the top. Rotate down at the wrist for the pickup, then rotate up at the wrist to stack them back up. Color tape on the blocks would show the rotation nicely.
That's a very cool project.

It is really easy. In fact it is so easy, the 6th graders can do it. They are going to hopefully really do some cool things with some of the robot projects I have set up for the rest of the year. |
