OMG OMG OMG
Glenda's co-workers were joking today, and she came home & looked up a medical term. The first web page she looked at, sounded EXACTLY like me (scarily detailed & accurate)!!
Anyone else have symptoms like these??
Dicsuss (and laugh if you must).

Hahaha. I'm sure that my wife would get a kick out of this. It's frighteningly true, especially to the male part of the species. Not surprising though that the contributors of the article are 3 females and one male. Hmmm... ;) |

Some of us have been dealing with it their whole lives.
The stories I could tell about how much I've ruined in my own life because of it.
It's not really all that funny......it pretty much sucks.

no offense Jeb, or anyone else...
it was just REALLY strange to see a page filled with things that describe me perfectly. out of the entire (very long) page, there are extremely few descriptors that don't apply in my case. I've been for a physical lately and am printing the page to go back for another visit, just for this.
we literally sat here speechless, staring at each other.

I think everybody meets those symptoms. It's just a matter of degree. I easily identified with 22 of the 24 symptoms. |

Agreed, no offense meant. I could see how it could be hard and I don't think anyone was trying to poke fun at that aspect of it. In fact, I think it's more of a jab at ourselves. |

You know a lot of people think they have ADD/ADHD but instead they have bipolar disorder.
The symptoms are slightly different but a lot are very close.

Oh, none taken......it's just that as well as how innocuous and funny some of the quirks are, they're also a lifetime of misery in a lot of ways.

Especially when you're a college student dealing with them...lol makes for some interesting all-nighters. I've had it for ever and ever tho, even when I was two my parents could tell that there was something wrong with me (and got put on ritalin around 6 or 7 so I could learn good!). I've learned to deal with most of the stuff, even though the meds don't help as much as they used to. They lessen the feeling of disconnect, which helps.
ETA: I went to an immensely conservative Christian school...one of the pastors had this saying "Yeah we had ADHD in my day...we spelled it B-R-A-T." Bugged me to no end.

Oh goodie, thanks a lot for that :S Apparently Im "Serious ADHD Likely!" and:
"It is highly likely that you are presently suffering from adult attention deficit disorder, according to your responses on this self-report questionnaire. You should not take this as a diagnosis of any sort, or a recommendation for treatment. However, it would be advisable and likely beneficial for you to seek further diagnosis from a trained mental health professional immediately."
Is it a bad thing that the test its self actually BOLDED "immediately" at the end?
I never was good at tests... only scored 85

You might be surprised how many there are out there. I've got moderate ADD, and both of my sons are ADHD. My father is ADD as well. Once they figured it out and put me on meds, it's amazing how much easier life got. I kept a job for more than 6 months!!! (made it 7 years even, that's a lifetime for me).
If you do think you have ADD or ADHD, there are many ways to control it. Get help, there's a whole 'nother life out there waiting.
Edit to add. I took that test... 85 puts me in the Serious ADD Likely category. And I'm not bi-polar... been there tested that.

I only scored a 45 on the test, which is odd.

interesting. i might fit in there somewhere.
also found this a bit funny.
one of the symptoms:
"Focus ΓΆ€“ Problems with sustaining focus and resisting distraction, especially with reading."
then scroll down to where it says:
Getting help for adult ADD / ADHD
"Learn about the many self-help methods for getting organized, becoming more efficient at carrying out responsibilities, and improving your interactions with people.
Read Self-Help for Adult ADD"
and
"Read Treatment Options for ADD / ADHD"
and
"Read Medications for Treating ADHD"
