Hi there gang -- I'm shopping for a short lens for my 10d and, have come across several likely candidates, and I'm curious about how they will "mesh" with my other existing lens, a Tokina 28-80 AT-X Pro. There are two VERY cheap lenses (Tamron and Tokina) at 19-35mm, one slightly less-cheap lens (used, discontinued Tokina) 20-35mm, and of course the Canon 20-35mm.
Frankly, I'm much more excited about the Sigma 12-24, but I just can't swing the big bux right now.
My question boils down to this: how much difference is there between the 20 and 28mm focal lengths? What about the difference between 19 and 20 -- worth sweating over? I've looked at the field of view numbers, and I can't quite visualize how the difference between a 78-degree and a 98-degree looks through the veiwfinder. Any suggestions or comments? |

See this:

It's a review of the 18-55 kit lens... but if you scroll down to the section entitled "Zoom Range", you can find an overlay of shots at 18, 22, 24, 28, 35, etc. This should give you a rough idea on the differences between focal lengths.
