I've been asked about the processing for this shot:
I used my favorite (this week) Lightroom preset, then CS3's B&W conversion (auto) with tint added. The Lightroom preset is "300 v1" and it can be found here. This isn't where I originally found it, but turns out to be a very cool place to get all sorts of presets!
If you don't have Lightroom, you can achieve the same effect by using the settings in Adobe Camera RAW if you have Photoshop CS3. I read somewhere here on DPC that both LR and RAW use the same engine - the same settings are available. Those settings as taken from LR with the 300 v1 preset in place are:
Temp (as shot)
Tint (as shot)
Exp +0.33
Recovery 20
Fill light 40
Blacks 50
Brightness 45
Contrast 73
Clarity 0
Vibrance +40
Saturation -70
Tone curve:
Highlights 0
Lights +2
Darks -2
Shadows +8
Point curve: medium contrast
HSL - no adjustments
Split toning:
Highlights hue 55
Highlights saturation 31
Balance +53
Shadows hue 55
Shadows saturation 0
Noise reduction
Luminance 0
Color 25
Sharpening
Amount 25
Radius 1.0
Detail 25
Masking 0
Lens correction
Chromatic aberration 0,0
Defringe Off
Lens vignetting
Amount -100
Midpoint 20
By the way, if someone from the SC drops by, this really should be called Lightroom presets, but it's not all that important. :-)
