Here's the deal.

when I bought my D300 and it came with Nikon software I've installed i in my laptop, and the Nikon transfer and View I've installed in both laptop and desktop (it's freeware so I could install on both).

But after a while and a few upgrades the Nikon Transfer in the Laptop only recognises jpeg files, not the raw ones, even when I shoot raw+jpeg. In the desktop I did the same upgrades, and it works ok. For what I've understood I have the latest version on both, so this is a bit strange. And th esame thing happens with the files from my D70. I tryed to unnistall all nikon programs and reinstall them, upgrade them and the same thing happened again.

So now what I'm doind is just to copy the cards with Windows explorer to a folder in the hard drive and then open it with nikon view to rename all the photos. I don't import with Lightroom because in weddings I have about 12GB of files (raw+jpeg) and I use only the jpegs to do the quick proofs for the gests to buy. Even with a reasonable laptop that I have (core duo @ 2.0 GH with 4GB of ram in Vista OS) the 12 GB of raw takes forever with LR to import and make the previews. And then I got to print them.

So nayone had a similar experience? Any ideas?

Any help would be appreciated.

Nuno

What may be happening is that even though you uninstall the Nikon software, it does not uninstall completely, but leaves some registry entries with settings. There may be a way to do a complete uninstall, and that *might* solve the problem.

Ive has some issues with transfer nx as well. I get a C+ runtime error and have gone through all the hurdles to try to get it tow work right, it just doesnt.

The temp solution is, if you have Capture NX, you can batch process the files and it does the same thing as NX, short of creating the file. So now, I create the file, then use CNX to move from the card to the pc. But Im looking for a new way.
