Dear All,

On my 1 month old Rebel XSi, I usually take pictures in live view mode (using LCD back panel for focus adjustments).
However, today we were outdoors and I switched to the viewfinder mode and when I clicked the shutter release button, I heard a click, and the shutter was stuck!!! In fact all controls froze too.. I couldnt change anything using all the dials and controls and I had to power reboot the camera (off -> on). Then out of frenzy, I switched back to live view mode, and then I could clisk shots normally. And every time since then, whenever I click in teh normal viewfinder mode, the shutter gets stuck ; 100% of the times!

What can I do? I didnt change any settings either..please help!!! :-(

- I am going to try another lens and see if it happens with that one too...but only after the battery recharges. Have to wait for at least 1/2 hour..sigh!

Well this isn't good.

Did you get any warranty service with it?

My advice is to test it one more time and if it continues to happen, then contact Canon and tell them what is going on.

Good luck.

I dont know what just happened.. but when I changed the setting to lock the mirror to false (it was true before), it started working fine now!!! PHEW!!! :-):-)

Thanks AC!

Dear SC, please change the subject of this post to (FIXED) or something? Thank you.

Yes I had tried that, but it seemed everything was frozen and no button was responsive.. and I could reproduce it 100% of the times.

I hope it was some weird combination of function settings that made this happen.. if this happens again, I am going for Canon's neck;-)
