Now how is, "Not that good of a photo" a helpful comment in anyway... Do people really think their going to get a helpful check from saying something like that. How bout try to tell me why its not a good photo along with putting it down.

Sorry, just had to vent about a stupid comment.

Hey, it could be worst. I once got, "Terrible. Out of focus, too tall and thin horizontally, bad title of the pic, etc. This may be one the worst images I've ever seen."

Then again, my comment did provide some guidance in regards to aspect ratio. :/

At least I was polite with my comment. Its ok with me since you didn't find it helpful :) I was just sharing my opinion.

This is the comment:

Wheels Challenge

"I think it would have looked much better without the tight cropping. I do like the colors and detail though.

Good luck..."

Ooh, an overplayed rant I must agree with you though, comments like that are worthless (no matter how true they may be) there are (many) commenters in here that can say the same thing but by giving (their) thoughts on the image and possible ways of improving it - thats the type of comment I like.

Hands up, and I didn't comment on your wheels entry but I felt it was on the small side but an excellent picture

"Not good enough"

Yes, I have to say that is a bad but yet helpful comment. At least there was some direction there.

That is funny that yours was the only one NOT marked helpful. Especially since he marked:

"porche ad"

helpful. Sorry, but not marking constructive comments helpful while marking trivial ones or "good photo" ones helpful is a pet peeve of mine. Either mark them all helpful, mark constructive ones only, or mark none of them.

Though I also have to say that I am in favor of images being flagged during challenges with those who don't mark comments helpful. I consider that a statement that they don't really want comments, and I'd like to know that before I decide to waste my time.

Edited - missed an important "Not"

Maybe the people who leave this type of comment are just trying to comply with the suggestion in the rules about leaving a comment when they vote you a 1, 2 or 3. I hope the people who wanted that suggestion put in also receive some comments like the one eostyles got.

Actually, I think that's a good comment too.

Very straight forward without any BS.

The most interesting aspect of comments I see is that of the repetitive nature. I don't mean getting 10 comments about a photo not being in focus, or an improper dof.

I'm amazed that when you review comments, quite often the person leaving the comment is simply regurgitating comments left on their own photos in earlier challenges.
