In a used lens that I bought recently, I can see tiny fibers sticking to the front element from the inside. At first I wondered how they got in there.. then soon realised that it is a cheap lens, and not a body tight internal focussing one.. so as the inner tube moves to focus, it might get air from outside. Its a Canon 50mm II f1.8.

My question is: is it worth cleaning it from inside? I read some tips online where people suggest to use a vacuum around the back element.. but I dont think that would be a good idea.

Further, I dont see the fibers in the pictures EXCEPT in long exposure shots or when there is flare around.

What do you suggest?

Thanks in advance.
