I Believe it is about time voters started to vote for the theme description of the challenge, as well as the technical and compositional merit of the images, instead of what they think the challenge photo should look like to fit the challenge. my image has more than 1 challenge description to it yet is now down to 4.3 from 9. Does this mean it DNMC.????????

Edited to show another downturn, it would be helpful if a comment was left for the negativity in this type of voting.

I was hoping for a bit more, I really thought I had a better image this week. Evidently I was wrong... (again)

I wonder if there is an element in the DPCO that is voting down images because they know which images are their teams?

I'd say that's a big 10-4.

I think I'm done with Open Challenges from here on out...Free Studies only, most likely.

The 'Upside Down' thread sounds about the same as this one - lot's of scores in the 3's and 4's.

I'd be with ya but for the dpco only using the basic editing challenges for no sensible reason.

Nothing like the mediocrity of a score like this to bring me down from my first-ever-ribbon-high. *SIGH*

My worst score to date. :(

I really think I need to learn more post processing. I thought DPC is all about photography.. but it seems to be about so much more;-)

I've voted on all but one shot in this challenge as I'm holding judgement on one for the moment.

You have rated 112 of 113 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 55 of 113 images (49%) in this challenge.

You have given an average score of 6.1071.

Good luck all! I really enjoyed scoring and commenting on this challenge as there's a TON of very humorous shots in this one that really gave me a chuckle. There were also some that were very clever or had double "inside out" meanings and made it very interesting. Some took a moment or two to "get it" but, once I did, I really enjoyed them! A couple of 10's in there from me and a lot of 7, 8's and 9's!!! Well done challenge everyone!

I SO agree with you that voters need to look beyond "technical merit" and to other things as well...such as challenge "fit"! I just finished scoring and commenting on as many as I had something to say on (and, may think of others as well to add in as the week progresses) but, in my scoring system, it didn't matter how well shot the shot was technically, if it didn't quite seem to fit the challenge category, relied heavily upon the title, it didn't do as well score wise as the ones that fit the challenge, were pleasing, emoted something from me but, were less technically correct (stock shot look :))

I am having the same problem. It seems that knowing editing does a lot for a shot in here as well. That's a little less prominent in the basic editing category though. Advanced and the few expert editing challenges are very difficult to crack unless you have great editing skills. I'm learning that slowly. Do some tutorials on editing...both in here and other sites that have free editing tips/tutorials! I'm trying! And, I think asking others in here with more experience in editing can also help.

I am not saying this image is front page but I do believe it deserves better than the score indicates.

How do you know that? Where can you see the individual votes (all I see is my average)?

Un-frickin'-believable number of trolls...Isee no reason for this pic not to be in the mid-5s. Methinks it's a bunch of noobs trying to elevate their scores by scoring everyone else low.

What a difference it makes to see that "5" instead of that "4" (even if it really is only by a couple tenths of a point...)!
