Geocities does't allow linking of pictures. The links currently don't work. Copy the links to the thread and click on the Automatically parse URLs: and the links will be clickable.

in case the links are broken.

As in most portrait shots the eyes make the picture interesting. Both shots have good attention to the eyes, especially the highlights.
The desaturation of all but the mask brings attention to the eyes. Not sure if I like the sheen in the mask though. You may want to play around with keeping the color of the eyes and keep the mask desatuarated also to see what kind of feeling it gives.
2nd shot. Contrast is very nice. The monotones are very good here. Taking off the mask and peeking makes this very interesting. Good formula of light {hands), dark (shadow), light (face),dark (hair, light (background0 helps to make this pleasing to the eye.
If I were to choose a favorite it would definitely be the 2nd one.
Edit: Looked through your past challenges and notice that your b&w shots have very good contrast. These are the ones that I enjoy. Looks like I've given you an average of "7" on your b&w shots.

Wow-thank you for a helpful(!) critique- I would definitely agree with the eyes being saturated vs. the mask. I will try it!

I'm getting a "Forbidden" message when trying to see the photos from faidoi's link. |
