I'm getting a 3.2 on my strength entry, but I'm only getting positive comments. I think people are voting low on mine because they can't accept the subject.

your post seems to me to be just as confusing/contrary as the results you are getting. :P
I hope things improve for you! :) |

If you subject is very controversial, this is not that unusual. you will probably find that the commentors have given you much higher scores.
At the end the average score for those who commented will be broken out separately for you in the stats.
If you are getting a significant number of comments but a low score, you shot is definitely controversial. Normally low-scoring shots get next to no comments.

why is my post confusing? I think that my photo doen't merit a 3.2, but that people are voting 1s and 2s without really looking at it, but just glancing. I only have 3 comments so far

I personally like it a lot (i'm probably a bit biased) I think it is origional. It's sharp, artistic, follows the rule of thirds etc.

Atleast you have 3 comments, i only got my first comment now. Averaging 5.0000... can't complain about the voters though, thats how DPC is.

We don't see our own work as others may see it here so yes biased eyes. You should like your work, that's good. The trick is do all you listed above and do it better then anyone else in a shot the majority will love. Just hang in there it's early in the voting.
And as Karen wished for you maybe things will turn around. |

I am finding some of the entries in the strength challenge hard to score. There are a number of icons that clearly have a great meaning to the person to photographed it but do not hold the same meaning for me. In short we are looking at the photos though different eyes from different cultures and so this makes it very hard for me to fairly judge their work. What I am doing is abstaining from voting on photos that I feel would have meaning others that I can not see. There is nothing wrong with a photograph representing the values of the photographer, it always will to some degree. I can see how people could easily look past the photos in this challenge and to the ideals behind the photos, this is unfortunate but hard to avoid. |

I'm at a 4.3 and I don't have 1 comment yet. That stinks... So far this is my lowest yet and I don't know why.

Get used to it.... Take a look at the photographer profiles, you'll find lots of people with Average vote cast around 4!!!! But don't let this discourage you because you'll find lots of people to learn from around here. |

Ok, now people are saying that is a weak submission, but no one has told me anything that is actually wrong with it. Some people just can't deal with my subject.
