We don't allow skunks on the island, thank goodness. The only lawyers here are rats...

Okay, I went out today and took 600 shots, only stopping because my battery died. Out of that I got quite a few "oh, that's nice" and maybe 4 or 5 "OOOOOH"s. (Well, to most folks they'd probably lump in with the "that's nice", but *I* like 'em.) So I might actually have an entry IF I can learn enough PS before the end of the challenge :)

You're not going to find too much wildlife in the wild around Philadelphia or right across the bridge in the good ol' NJ burbs. So if I end up with another 4.5, so be it. To me the fun is in taking the picture and hitting the update button. The score really doesn't mean all that much.

edit to add: not that I'd ever turn down a good score though...

Are you serious? There are dozens of "wild" Canadian Geese down on Kelly/West River drive loop along the Schuylkill River. Take that bike trail through Manyunk along the river and you will see plenty of wildlife. Don't forget the deer and birds in the surrounding suburbs, while you are out there flip some rocks for the salamanders. Cross the bridge and find some Snapping Turtles in the ponds and lakes of New Jersey, not to mention tons of places for shore birds in and around Philadelphia and New Jersey. Wildlife is everywhere! Even in Philadelphia and Los Angeles.

OK, let me rephrase, you're not going to find any wildlife that makes you go "WOW". At least not without some expert editing. LOL! ;P

Why are Insects, Crustaceans, Mollusks, Arachnids, Marsupials and Fish not considered wildlife?

Well, I spent my days off out in the woods and got some shots. I even think I got one that will work.

There's no way I'm not giving you a DNMC for trying to shoehorn a picture of your pet clam.

Not according to the description...

My guess is the original person who wrote it up was trying to keep the challenge from turning into a macro challenge. I don't know if I agree or disagree with that, but I bet that was the intent.

I see. Well on the bright side, at least marsupials got a seat on the ark in the back of the mammals section.

When I think of wildlife photography, I generally think of furry animals, and birds. That's just what pops into my head. Maybe that was the intent. Just my 2 cents worth.

I wouldn't vote down a really good shot of some other type of creature, though.

Non-domesticated mammals.... can you say beer-drinking sports fans in front of widescreen TVs? :-)

No. That would be hops challenged for the politically correct.

I got some very nice pictures of an honest-to-Gawd wild frog, but wanted to shoot something that's more likely to evoke an 'Awwwww' or 'Ooooh' as opposed to 'Ewwwww'!

Um, I got shots of a slug yesterday. You mean they won't get the "cute puppy" response?

Some of us think the furry critters are boring and like the frogs and creepy-crawlies of the world. :)

Now, I'm not saying your score will reflect that. :) Just sayin'.

I love amphibians and reptiles! I'd shoot one if I could find one. Hoping to find something reasonably acceptable to DPC this weekend....

I am going to take a photo of Slippy and submit it. You cannot get wilder than that

Especially if you catch him in his squirrel transformation.

If you weren't so wild you wouldn't have to worry, right? :)
(until the next challenge, at least....)
