Just picked up a used Kenton CD for $5 -- radio transcriptions from the early 50's featuring a clear and full-voiced Chris Connor, and a young and inspired Lee Konitz, with his instantly recognizable sound on alto already in place. Conte Candoli, Frank Rosolino and others are here too. Good stuff!

So what have folks been listening to lately?

I heard Oscar Peterson in a store a little while ago and have had him on repeat on my ipod since. Also loved Art Tatum immediately.

I'm fairly new to Jazz, but so excited to learn more.

Miles Davis : Kind of Blue

Beautiful, timeless

I have a great Coltrane album but can't remember the name right now

I'm not terribly deep into jazz, but I like some typical ones that've been mentioned: Mingus, Monk, Coltrane, Brubeck, Davis...
One that nobody has mentioned that I like is Matthew Shipp.
And, related to Matthew Shipp, take a look at El-P's album High Water. All of El-P's other stuff is a totally different genre, so for the purpose of this thread I'm only referencing that one album.

I'm thinking of getting an ANIMOTO account...

New York Groove

I just threw together some images and some of ME playing guitar and singing (all tracks except the drums) for kicks and a test run. Not jazz but I figure this is a good enough place to post.

Maverick-You bro is very good. He should try NYC. Get in the thick of things.

eta: Awww what the hell...one more.. I play banjo, guitar, mandolin, harp, bass on that track. Call it Funk-Grass...I used some drum track from The Meters.
