Does anyone have some ideas for good street photography spots near or in downtown Los Angeles?

I've been to Olvera street a couple of times and it was fun, but it's getting boring now.

Suggestions?

First some advice.

Be careful when taking pix downtown LA. I can not speak for any other city but LA.

Because of my career,....the one I wish I didn't have and were in some other less back breaking job, I get a unique opportunity to shoot my camera in a lot of places most people will never see.

LA is a great place to shoot, but be mindful, the people down there are crazy.

I have been spat at for taking candids of people.

Imagine, me with a tool belt on, walkie talkie, surveillance, low profile communication gear, my 300d with a 24-70mm lens, and me taking pictures.

Yeah, that's right....under cover cop.

I have given a few bucks to homeless people in return letting me grab a couple of snaps.

Anyway...

Disney Auditorium, off the 110 and say 9th looking at the city, the convention center, Staples, the train depot, the diamond district, or the fashion district, little Tokyo, China town, the tunnel on 6th, Broadway and 1st through 20th, .........

have you tried the flower market? You have to get up early, since it opens at like 3am, but the scent and the colors are amazing.

That's some good advice and you can't say you don't have an exciting career!! :) I actually listen to a police scanner quite a bit. Mostly on my commute to avoid accidents but sometimes for fun too. I actually want to go to a good fire scene or something sometime and take some pics. But that may never happen.

Anyway, when you are saying be careful in downtown LA, are you talking about any specific intersections? I did some shooting near Olvera Street on main street and it seemed pretty sane down there. There are quite a few homeless people, but they didn't seem to care about me...
