I was browsing through the October issue of Shutterbug, and was somewhat amused by an ad for DigiCombos.com (page 95). In particular, I thought their combos for the Nikon D700 and D300 were a little bizarre. First, both packages include the ML-L3 remote control, which doesn't work with either of those cameras (you need a remote that uses the 10-pin port on these cameras; neither has an infra-red connection that this remote uses).
They have a "Semi-Pro Package" that includes a D700 and the lower-end SB-400 flash unit, and the "Professional Package" with a D300 and the SB-800. Of course the D700 is a higher-end camera than the D300, so that's all a bit weird.
Does it seem like these folks (self described as "Expert Combo Creators" in the ad) just tossed together some random elements to create packages? Reading the ad makes me curious to hear from anyone who has dealt with them...

Doesn't appear to be very professional based on some of the comments on bizrate.
Very unhappy with the company. I placed order, i was misled with there practices of holding orders to speak with the customer to see if they want to purchase additions items. Then i was laughed at and hung up on by customer service.
The package/kit didn't contain / match what I purchased, and the salesperson called me with false info about the battery and talked me into purchasing an addl battery for $39.00. Is that the normal practice for this company????
The main product we bought (the camera) is great and we are happy; however I was talked into buying an extra battery to go with it that I was told would give us 8 hours of use, when in reality it is the same battery that came with the camera already, and only gives 1½ hours of use.
The worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. My order was very poorly handled from start to finish - Calling me twice about my order over two days to ask the same questions and hanging up on me because I wanted to cancel the order was such a low rent way of doing business. I could not recommend this business to anyone.
I had noticed the same ad. I thought it was odd that they put the D700 with an SB-400- but they seem to put an SB-400 with 90% of the combos.

I've seen the same ads. They always struck me as strange, too. And I never thought that the prices were really that much of a "deal," to begin with.
Has anyone ever actually bought from them?
