Well, I decided for protection's sake more than anything to go into Jessops and pick up a UV Filter today, so I screwed that on, it's fine for what I want it to do (stop my lens getting scratched, which it would do eventually being a clumsy 19 year old) - Anyway, I'll take some test shots with that and see what effect (if any!) it has.

Anyway, the main point is, I want to buy a circular polarizing filter, but is it *really* necessary to buy a top-brand one, how much actual difference is there going to be between a Hoya and a £6 thing from eBay?

Answers on a postcard :D

TONS!!! A crap load! I think particularly in a polarizing filter! Now don't forget, there are some mid range options between those two extremes as well...
