Reading the active poll I have the tenptaption of apply as first time a texture to my entry. This means that I can take every image that I want and apply it to my image or only 'in' a spot of my image? the image must have some particular characteristic?

Be very careful. What one SC member may think as adding a new element.....another may not. To be sure, contact SC and get them to vote on it. Allow as much time as possible. I have tried to do this before without adding a new element but it was rejected....I doubt it was voted on though.

Don't do it. My sole rules DQ was for using a texture. I sent 'in' 4 quotes from SC 'in' the forums saying it was legal, to no avail. Do not do it, you can not rely on any precedent regarding it.

I don't believe 'textures' are, at this time, legal 'in' 'advanced'.

"You must:
create your entry from 1-10 captures of a single scene (defined as a scene whose composition/framing does not change). All captures used must be shot within the challenge submission dates."

the open poll on the texture show that the problem exists and probably there isn't an unanimous position 'in' the SC. As personal opinion I think that the texture must go out from the 'advanced' editng and my vote 'in' the current poll is 'in' this direction. honestly without that poll I would have never thought about being able to use texture.

yes but a texture is an extern image that you use as "background" for some special effect on the image.

I'm aware of that. And I still don't see anything 'in' the rules that would allow it.
Am I missing something?

probably isn't allowed but actually not forbidden. considering that every image could be considered as a texture probably this is the reason for the poll. the actual result for the texture is that the dpc members don't like the use of 'textures' 'in' the images hence I think that we'll have new 'advanced' 'editing' rules 'in' the future.

I may be wrong but I think, as the rules stand now, 'textures' would be illegal, since you're combining two different photos, but many members would like to see them allowed since they're used more like other legal filters than actual photos. Seems like those polled don't agree, though.

The current rules allow you to combine several images depicting the same scene with the same composition with slight variances due to wind.

Since a texture, as you describe it, would be a separate image it would not be allowed.
(my interpretation, which has been confirmed 'in' other threads) We'll see what SC says 'in' response to your ticket.

periodically we come back on the 'editing' rules but really we have always challenge 'in' 'advanced' or basic 'editing', only many rarely minimal or expert 'editing'. probably is only my idea but the new "time lapse" 'editing' have few fans. i don't remember last expert 'editing' challenge.

'in' the ticket there is the tiff image with the levels, this for be trasparent 'in' my interpretation of the texture. i am curous to read the answer. 'in' italy are 10p.m. and I think that will be difficult obtain a response before that I'll go to sleep.
