I'm holding out for beer. So... my membership expires at the end of this month and I will not renew unless I'm drunk.

The cool thing about free cigs would be the fact that when people were interviewed for the DPC podcast they would have that "smokers voice" and it would sound cool.

OOoh good point. Plus those 1940's style b&w 8x10 glossy's look cooler when the person has a cig hanging from their mouth. More gritty and noir-ish-esque.

I usually reserve posting for when I'm drunk, but work is keeping me too busy to even look at a beer here lately. However, free beer would keep me coming back even if we do away with all the images of any size. Looking back, I even tend to buy most of the beers at GTGs, so those aren't even free. At least they're cold!

Keep in mind that the image size inherently goes up proportionately with the number of beers consumed...

Wow, that looks clear after a 9-pack!!!

Why on earth did you renew your membership to a site you are not satisfied with?

That would be my only thought in this whole matter. I do not enjoy smoking so I do not buy cigarettes.

Did you read the original post, or did you read the end and hop into the conversation just to be in? To get any sort of decent resolution, you HAVE to be a member. Even 720px is too small in my opinion, but, since I have ENJOYED the community thus far, I am willing to give it another membership term to grow into something more reasonable.

Yes of cause I read the original post, I am not 'hopping' into this just to be a part of it either. If you hang your opinions in a public forum then you should expect a reaction, I gave mine, get over it.
your dramatic title of 'My last renewal' suggested it was an interesting read, it was, I replied.

There is nothing to get over, MAK. In between which words did you read that I was unsatisfied with the entire site? Did you choose to ignore the positives I posted about the community and blast me on the negatives, or did that just happen inadvertently. If you react to public posts, especially with inaccuracy, expect to be called out on it. Get over it.

On an 19" flat panel, 640px is about 18.5cm (7.28" for the metric-impaired)
On a 24" flat panel, it would be 17.5cm (6.9")
On a 30" flat panel, it would be 16.2cm (6.39")

Just a question here: What resolution are you assuming given the monitor sizes?
WSVGA, WXGA, WUXGA, WQUXGA..... you can get different resolutions at given sizes, that's all.

I used the "typical" native resolution of LCD panels (ie their typical maximum resolution):
19": 1280x1024
24": 1920x1200
30": 2560x1600

The smallest pitch for desktop LCD screens is from the 30" panels, but some laptops have an even smaller pitch. It is interesting to note that the most annoyed users are some laptop users, while the 640px limit is probably still there to accommodate some other laptop users (including me). The lowest resolution that is sold in volume is from 12" and 13" laptops (1280x800). (and no, those are not outdated, old or second-hand laptops)

this was interesting for a while, i read because i would also like higher resolution....but now its just getting juvenile. we should keep the topic on resolution sizes and you guys should take the rest to rant or a pm fight.

while it is true that 12 and 13" screens are not outdated those are usually laptops that are meant to be for business people or people who use them in the field like the home health and hospice users at the health care org. i work for. thats not a type of laptop you would typically see used for photo editing.
