How are these lenses for the 300D?

Well, they are not "L" quality, but then they are not priced like that either! For "consumer zooms, they are getting pretty good reviews. The downsides are:
- Rotating front element (harder to use polarizer effectively)
- Slow (but you already knew that...)
The upsides:
- Pretty good sharpness
- Reasonable quick focusing
- Neutral color rendition
you might want to wander over to DPReview and search the Canon Lens Talk forum for "sigma 18-50 and "sigma 55-200", you will come up with alot of info.
