San Pedro, CA, at the Southwest Marina Slips. Abandoned, and out of business there, this location is used all the time for television and feature films.
Soon to be tore down to make room for a container yard.
This special effects wizardry was done fora scene on my show.
The bad guys are on the lower right in the images.
I was perched on an abandoned crane.
Used my 300D Canon and my 24-79L, shot at 100 iso/1600 shutter/ 9.0f on motor drive.

That was great! Thanks!
I would guess that it got very hot at street level where the people are standing in the shot.
I also noticed that the windows on the building didn't shatter from concussion, so it must have been mostly a controlled fire event. It must have been exciting to be there and see it first hand.

Car alarms went off all around the area.
The percussion was pretty big, but the blast was directional, and mostly flames as opposed to a non direction explosion.

This has got to be one of the best jobs in the world. Blowing stuff up, and setting huge fires, and getting paid for it.
Normally you get arrested, or you are in a war zone. Though the Myth Busters look like they have a bit of fun also. |

Coincidentally, just read today in the local paper that scientists have discovered that a soup can just put global warming over the edge of no return.
Apparently, the soup cans metal content, and it's natural decomposition with mother earth was just enough to set in motion the melting of the ice cap....forever.

Very cool. Even with all the crap you have to put up with I'd still think it would be fun. |

Jac, Jac, Jac... It really is a green job. If it wasn't for them filming explosions and fire for entertainment, just think how many explosions and fires we would have to have, for us all to enjoy one. Think of it like car pooling... See all better now... ;-) |

He got that right. I blew a bunch of stuff up as a kid. Mostly black powder stuff. I tried ANFO but I was only 11 years old and didn't realize you needed dynamite to detonate the ANFO. Plus the nitrate fertilizer I mixed the kero with was not pure enough to detonate anyway. I usually worked with a friend or two and it was great fun. One of my friends joined the Army and eventually was trained to service atomic weapons. So you all should be thankful that I was able to get my explosive kicks via TV and the movies. I almost joined the army too! Just imagine someone who takes images like mine in charge of thermonuclear weapons! Thanks to horseman and his co-workers you've all been able to live a radiation free life! Global warming. hehehehehehhahahahahaha
Just imagine nuclear winter!!!!! |
