I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with both of these monitors and could explain to me what the observable difference might be?

I'm in need of another monitor and I currently own the 07 equivalent of the $689 model but I don't need to use the new monitor for photo editing or any color-critical work.

It would mostly be for gaming, so the low response time is good and everything else seems like it would be ok...just looking for some other input!

Differences from what I can tell include:
a) higher contrast ratio on more expensive one, thus in theory darker blacks and brighter whites and thus more spectuacular image
b) more types of inputs on more expensive one -- cheaper one just has computer inputs, more expensive one also has inputs for DVD/BlueRay players and game consoles, which may be useful to you if you are big into gaming
c) CNET gave the more expensive one an editor's choice rating -- and CNET is a pretty decent site when it comes to this sort of a thing (read the CNET review if you have not already)

Hope this helps.
