I've been watching these things since Carter/Reagan. I conclude that the "winner" is usually the one who gets in the best ONE LINER. For example;

Reagan to Mondale on the age question,

Bentson to Quale on the John Kennedy comment.

On top of that, all the media playback for the hours and days after the debate is rediculous. The networks pick what they feel is the best sound bytes and play them over and over. The general public views this and thinks that this was the WHOLE DEBATE and make their voting decision on those few sound/video bytes.

The debate should be shown in it's entirety and then only showed in it's entirety on replays after that.

The winner is the one who can speak all day and say the least stuff to piss voters off.... (excluding the majority that don't vote)....

Thanks to the age of sound bites I don't even have a long enough attention span to.....ah.......ah...... oh forget it.
