I found this on ebay and think it might be a good stop gap until i can find something better a little later on in my photo journey and was hoping to get some input from you folks. Its priced at about £50 but seems to be capable of a lot of things.

It's rated only to support up to 2.2 lbs. Some lenses weigh more than that.

It's going to depend on the kit you intend to use it with whether it's good enough or not. Also, a small ball head will slip if it's got too much weight attached to it.
