I'm photographing a horse and buggy in the New Orleans area. One photo will go into a trade magazine and other ads. Up to 20 of the photos will go into a website I am also building for the client.
Photo's will be taken with a faux bride in front of several New Orleans hotels. I will also do one night shot in front of a church.
Ideas and advice welcomed !

I have read your post 4 times, I'm not sure what kind of advice you are asking for.

Let's say I can handle the single shot that will appear in the print ads....very straight forward shot...
Lets go to the 20 or so pics I'll use in the web page as a "gallery"...
Ideas on point of view, lighting, motion blur (moving carriage)...etc...
What do you think would look interesting in a gallery that is promoting the horse and buggy service? It will be used for weddings, tours, cemetary tours etc...

Does it have different looks available for different types of weddings? Glamour, thrifty, something in between? |

The client explained that the carriage is used to transport bride/groom from Church to usually a hotel in the area for reception. I gather that the look of the carriage will be the same for each wedding...thrifty or glamourous.

I would just go with different views of the carriage, front, back, side, etc. Show the decorations (I've seen them done up for weddings in Philly). Maybe show them in front of some landmarks of the area. |

I'm from that area born and raised, i'm not a professional by any means but i can give points on the landmarks.. the cathedral of course, i'd see if they would allow you to go in the park across the street from there and get the fountian in front of the horse and buggy from a low to high angle with the clock on top the church. for the thrifty.. i might try to get some of the street painters and bands somewhere in the background ( shows new orleans) and mainly that area.
is the buggy service just for weddings? or is it for the tourist too? cause theres LOTS of places i can say for tourists attraction type shots. i may not be able to get the shots i'm "ideaing" about but i can vision it.. lol |

Beyond the standard wide shots of the horse and carriage with the fake bride in front of landmarks and hotels, variables of the bride with just the carriage, bride next to the horse, perhaps even some small details of the carriage with her hand resting next to it, with the ring showing, hand resting on the reigns with the ring showing, bride petting the horse's nose with her ring hand..........hopefully you get the idea. Make sure since its an advertisement for the service, that you make sure your backgrounds dont pull too much attention away from what should be the subject.
