The first time I used a compact flash, I downloaded pictures to my computer. Then I deleted the pictures from the compact flash using my computer. I did not know at the time that you can not do that. Does anyone know of a way I can "repair" the card so that I can use it again in my camera?

If you copied the images to your computer and then deleted them off the CF card, you've done nothing wrong. Stick card back in camera and you are good to go.

When I do that I get the message that there is not a card in the camera.

Did you just delete the images, or did you delete directories, or format the whole card?

Just deleting files should not cause a problem. I delete files off the cards for my 40D, using the computer, all the time with no problem. Did you possibly remove the card with the deletion in progress?

If there is nothing on the card you need to keep, try going through the menu on your camera and format the card.

Yup... that's what I'd suggest.

I just deleted the pictures. I did not pull the card out to early.

The camera will not acknowledge that there is a card in the camera for me to do anything with it.

I appreciate the quick responses and the help.
I just found this forum, but I like it already.

Put the card back in the computer, and see if the computer sees the card properly.

If not, it is a card issue. If it does, then it could be a camera issue. If it is a camera issue, you might want to try, turning the camera off, removing the battery for 30 seconds or so, and then re-inserting the battery, and re-inserting the card.
