i shall ad my random bit to this forum. i hardly think judging someone by their political standing is relevent when talking about their photographical abilities. i happen to dislike the fact that HawkeyeLonewolf has a Anti Obama thing on his page, but it doesn't make me NOT like him as a person or a photographer. just saying...

Nor is everyone given the God given talent in posting exhilarating, thought provoking, wet your pants, gut jarring photographs, but we try.

And then, there was the spelling grammar reply... When you can write in english spanish and italian and not have many spelling mistakes then you can compare my spelling to your highnesses or judge it in that matter. im not going to look at the dictionary each time i have a doubt on a word when i write in a forum...

I didn't say anything about liking or disliking him because he likes Mccain, my brother-in-law happens to be american and he likes Mccain... But I was making a defensive or offensive (however you want to put it) statement about his taste which came from an attack he made towards myself...

Then comes the typical im better then most poster who believes he is a pro or close to a pro and boasts himself around trying to bring down everyone else who to himself or his definition of good/pro does not meet the requirements and im not talking about the horse man... When did i said i was a beginer with my gear, I meant and whoever does not agree to this is simply a worthless person for a conversation, there is nobody who knows it all therefore your opinion on anything is prone to change when you realize you might be wrong and ofcourse there will always be a better talent in this case ad photography or photography by itself than your own.

Ofcourse not all of my work is on the web, and will never be for obvious reasons.

I\'ve got no time now as I started a publicity course and work to look around and participate in challenges, i only watch and learn as there is always the possibility of it.

Sorry, but you don't know how wrong this statement is.

I have to partially agree with the jerk, here. At our current resolutions, you STILL cannot tell if the image is good or not. How about higher resolutions and size allowances, DPC? It could be Langdon's wedding gift to US. ;)

Honest views can be appreciated, it's just that it was your very first participation in the site. Therefore it seemed like a "drive-by" slap. I'm glad you offered the peace pipe.

I don't mean this in a hostile way, but I thought it was odd that your first comment was that the photos were only good in an advertising way, and then you said the photos had distracting backgrounds, etc. The two criticisms seem to contradict each other.

Whatever, you may have been met with hostility, but I'm sure you'll find that if you start participating, this site can be very positive.

Hey you started it! :P

Look the point is this. This site has people in it that have shot for one day and people who have shot for 20 years. I've never ribboned but I've never gotten a score below 5. However, there are still a lot of people on here who are still trying every week to get their first 5. But they ask those of us that have more experience and we gladly will help them learn. I admire Kiwiness' work and he went through my portfolio and gave me advice and I've taken that and used it. You see in here learning is what matters. For example. Have you ever heard of a kid name Joey Lawrence? Here is some of his early work from his fourth challenge here...

Don't recognize his look? That cool lighting? The "How the hell did he do that" post processing? Hmmmm okay wait I'll show you a more recent image that you should recognize.

This site is about learning not about having a gallery full of perfect images. Here is the about DPC section to read.

DPChallenge was created in January 2002 by two friends, Drew Ungvarsky (drewmedia) and Langdon Oliver (langdon). The original idea behind the site was for it to be a place where the two of us and a couple of our friends could teach ourselves to be better photographers by giving each other a 'challenge' for the week. The idea quickly took off and became much more in the months that followed.

Welcome to DPC man if you stick around you'll find that anytime you have a question and post it someone will answer no matter how simple. If you have a life problem people will offer their thoughts and prayers. These people are my friends and family and we tend to protect each other as such.

Patrick

By the way you can still critique images just be a little more constructive than criticizing and you'll be just fine. Take care but watch out for the trolls, slippy and Art Roflmao ummm "correcting" your images for you. You'll learn what all these mean soon enough.
