Anyone recognize this bird?

I sure as hell do - he stole my wallet at the county fair last week!

Yep, took me two years to train him.

It always helps to have a little more info, such as location, type of habitat/vegetation, etc. :) Also size, call, anything else we may not see in the picture.

And now I'm off to discover, since it ain't summtin we have here :)

eta; wow... thought maybe it was a mockingbird or thrasher... first page I looked at in my bird book;
brown thrasher, Toxostoma rufum, I believe.

Kentucky, usually hangs out on the ground, about the size of a large bluejay or blackbird. I've only seen them around for about 3 days. I've seen 3 or 4 or them. Rare for one to hop up on this branch. I think they eat worms, but just guessing.

ETA really dry in this part of Kentucky right now and we live in what used to be a pond, so robins and similar worm feeders are frequent during dry spells. (mosquitos, too). But I've never seen these guys. They make an interesting noise. Kind of like a horse in pain.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is it, though I think I've been wrong once or twice before :)

Looks like I have myself a brown slasher! This bird is pretty good size... is known to draw blood from humans and dogs in defense of his nest. It makes the coolest noises, too. Best catch since I shot the Cow Bird!

Lol, I read that as shooting the cow... figured you wanted steaks for dinner....

Nice shot, by the way :)

That's a bad ol' bird. First he is a pickpocket, and now he's a slasher too. Quick, lock the doors and windows. LOL.
That is a fine shot of it.

A 'Brown Slasher' ?? No wonder he got Art's wallet - it's a wonder he didn't take his car keys off him as well . .
