I am a Portrait/Wedding photographer and want to use a new logo for my business. My business name is Smith PhotoPro and my website is Smith PhotoPro

Any help would be appreciated. Creativity in design has never been one of my strong suits.

Thanks

Do you have any idea what it is you want in a logo?

An image of some sort, your business name, something abstract?

Something interesting with the name that I could maybe use as a logo on multiple pieces. I will probably incorporate graphics into the pieces separately. Nothing too colorful but clean and clear. Abstract could be interesting... just gathering ideas.

I kind of like the one you have on your page but understand you want something more unique and stand out...I'll try and think of something.

I know you weren't asking but if I may about your website...You've got some outstanding images on there but I think it looks amateurish to have that "Please check out my galleries for examples of my work." in the middle of the page. Maybe you can find a slideshow or something that will link to the galleries when clicked. I also don't like the email logo and page counter...they are a personal preference but since you have the email hyper link anyway why have the little old school logo too, and I'm pretty sure you can do a page counter hidden or get stats from your host. I'd prefer to see that part just say...Your name, phone number and email. They know why it is there you really don't have to tell them what it is for...even better yet a Contact Me button that brings up that information.

Hopefully you don't take offense to the above, just what I saw.

Hi John,
Probably the best way to do something like this is for you to find something that is something you like, or something in a similar type of look, and post some examples. It's kind of like buying a car - everyone has an idea in mind, yet if it isn't communicated, 100 cars could be brought to you, with each getting a "nah", all because you really didn't want a car and all along had an SUV in mind.

In the meantime, I had a few minutes while waiting
on some parts to be delivered, so I played a little:

My idea:
I noticed a very nice little hand-written "Smith" signature on the first portraits. Just take that one, and put "p h o t o p r o" in lower case under it in a widely spaced graphical typeface such as Geometr231 BT. The handwritten "Smith" will carry a softer, personal message whereas the "photopro" part is graphical, minimalistic, professional.

(Oh, if the "Smith"-signature is just some typeface, then perhaps you should write your signature by hand and scan it to get it more personal and unique feeling about the logo).

Very nice photos by the way! But I do have to agree with sabphoto on the website.. sorry.

I think that last one is kind of cool, that might be cool if you could make it look like words are in an actual aperature image...like the circle on DPC's logo? Does that make any sense? Just a thought

Scott, thanks for the suggestions, they really make sense. When I put up this site I really did not give it much thought. I am not a webmaster by any means but just wanted a web presence mainly for gallery purposes. Honestly I mainly use flickr for uploading most of my new work because it is so easy but not very professional for displaying photos. I will work on the site a little with your suggestions and am sure that I can get it looking a little better than it does today.
