The starting averages have been posted on the DPCO III Alternate Scoring site...
//photographyvoice.com/pv/features/dpco3a/
These are based on each participant's last 10 (or fewer) challenges up to and including the one that ended Sunday night, 09/14/2008.
For those with less than 10, I took the average of the ones you'd done. This will different from the DPC stated average because it counts each challenge equally (like tests in school).
One user had not yet entered a challenge and after toying with several different method to compute theirs, I went with the straight 5.5 average score for the site.
The goal here is to compare challenge score with current performance. For most, skills have improved since you first joined the site. For a few others, for whatever reason, you might have gotten rusty.
Please check the site and make sure that what I calculated is correct for your profile. If you do this after rollover tonight, you will need to back out any score posted tonight.

I could not help myself. Here is a summary of the team's averages. Sorry for the awful formating but tabs and spaces get stripped out.
Team------Total------ Average
ICE------ 49.42365333------ 6.177956667
Islanders------ 48.77164------ 6.096455
Poland------ 48.52608------ 6.06576
USA-EQ------ 46.73683------ 5.84210375
USA-SW------ 45.6939125------ 5.711739063
CAN-III------ 45.65195------ 5.70649375
GER------ 45.63447------ 5.70430875
CAN-I------ 44.82148------ 5.602685
USA-NW------ 44.76830583------ 5.596038229
USA-SE------ 44.53558------ 5.5669475
USA-MW------ 44.5156225------ 5.564452813
CAN-II------ 44.07357------ 5.50919625
UK------ 43.998835------ 5.499854375
USA-NE------ 43.15160667------ 5.393950833
AUS------ 42.71226111------ 5.339032639
MYS------ 42.67709------ 5.33463625
For the normal scoring I would says the 3 teams with the 6+ averages have to be considered the favorites. For the alternate scoring there should be no favorites, but I guess the low scoring teams have a little more head room.

Just to clarify, the starting averages will be the benchmark for the entire 12 weeks correct? So even in week 12 our average will be compared + or - to this starting average. (in other words the last 10 scores or not going to move forward)
Or are the 10 scores forming your average always your most recent ones as we move forward, with a new average every week?

What you said first. We'll enter the season with the averages as noted and that will be the comparison for the entire season.
After the season we can see if a rolling average needs to be implemented, but that would be a lot more work. :) |
