Finally got my hands on the Tokina 11-16mm/f2.8 lens for Nikon!! Had to pay about $60 extra off eBay, but WOOHOO!!
1 of 5 on the site! Now to get out and find something good to shoot. Damn storms have let up. :( Real nice weather next few days off work. Maybe look forward to the weekend.
But, in time for the fall colors to start kicking in here in CO. Up to the mountains this weekend!! WOOHOOO!!!

grats! if it delivers the same great performance as the 12-24 it should be a good lens. ;)
i tried it once in a shop like 3 month ago and it wouldn't focus with my S3. it gave some strange noise as if it was trying to focus but it didn't. then the owner of the shop tried with a D200 and it was the same. hope yours is ok.
have fun!

wonder if its little manual "clicking" clutch was out or not quite engaged??? Played with it a little, and no problems at this time. the motor does sound different when it is focusing compared to my other Nikon lenses.

no the focusing clutch was right in place, i switched it a few times but didn't change anything. dunno, it was prolly just that one sample that was out of order.

Wow, $569 seems like a good price for an ultra-wide f/2.8. No wonder they don't have any in stock.
The similarly priced Sigma 10-20 is f/4-5.6, and the more expensive Canon 10-22 is f/3.5-4.5. I wonder how the Tokina's performance (sharpness throughout, flare control, color, etc) stacks up. |
