Hey everyone,

Recently I had the opportunity to visit the "Habitat for Horses" Ranch to do some photos of horses for the Horse(s) Challenge.

The charity organization was very open to my idea and allowed me to spend a whole day among the horses.

The Habitat for Horses is an organization that rescues abused and neglected horses for rehabilitation. This place is true heaven for the horses.
I will admit, I have always feared horses. As a child I had a very bad experience with a horse and since then I have never trusted them. This experience allowed me once again to re-acquaint myself with such beautiful animals. Each horse at the ranch had a personality of it's own. It was quite an experience.

When I arrived at the Ranch in the morning, it was feeding time. All horses where located in their pens and stables. I was greeted by the society keepers and introduced to the horses. This gave me the opportunity to get up-close and personal to the horses. These guys were very curious and many got in my face when I arrived to their enclosures.

After feeding, I was told to be ready. I didn’t know what they meant, but as I soon found out, they let all the horses loose on the property. This place hosts about 100+ horses and they were all walking and running around me like a busy downtown sidewalk. Each horse had its own personality. Many wouldn’t leave me alone until I would take a picture of them. And of course, my favorite horse "Itchy". Very kind and sweet white spotted horse, that spent most of her time away from the rest. She was always facing away to the lake. Like she was in deep thought pondering life.

Being surrounded by horses was overwhelming at first, but as time pasted by , they all showed very strong human like personalities. I swear I could have been surrounded by people and not known the difference. This is how much personality these animals have.

And there was Paco the white spotted Donkey. I found out the hard way that he is a kleptomaniac (This was confirmed after my fiasco). He snatched one of my bags while I wasn’t paying attention and ran off with it. It took me 20 minutes to get that back. LoL

Anyway, as you can tell I had the time of my life. I am planning on doing more shots for the Habitat for Horses again. I have also been contacted by the society to display my work to represent their organization at this huge Horse show they have annually located at Texas Rose Park in Tyler, Texas.

I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Enjoyed. Especially liked the white horse(s) and Itchy - is that me, or is it your engagement with them?
