June 26th, 2007. A day that will live in infamy.  Noraneko, using a sand dollar that people speculate was on performance enhancing drugs, beat DrAchoo in Puzzle Macro by 0.02. She snagged 6th, while the defeated 'achoo came in 8th. |
Ah, yes, the infamous Puzzle Macro challenge. And that sand dollar was not on performance enhancing drugs, LOL, though maybe it was a little performance-enhanced by PS. |

Yep mines dropped from 5.9 to 5.5 since last night and no additional comments, the 3 comments I have had so far have been really positive... Hmmm |

an excerpt from a recent comment: "However, I would have scored it higher if the whole XXX was in focus" and all this time I thought it was a shallow dof challenge???

The out of focus one has to be a joke, either that or someone that didn't read the challenge title, and/or is new to photography and doesn't understand why you don't want the entire picture in focus. Thats weird though, i imagine he/she is voting that way on everyones though, so I don't think you have to worry about it affecting you placementwise.
eta: I read the "overexposed" comment, and I believe what he meant was that the overexposure doesn't work for you in this case, I think he realized that the challenge was overexposure, the dof one though is stumping me. |
The person that left the oof on my DOF entry has been a member over 1 year now and entered over 80 challenges.... they have been around enough to know IMO.

I think the comments criticizing the OOF aspect as a flaw are suggesting that the shallow DOF does not work for that particular shot. I left a couple of comments along those lines myself. If any of my comments are the ones being talked about, PM me and I will be happy to clarify the comment.

I probably should have explained myself better on the few I left comments like that on. I sometimes forget people can't read my mind. ;) If one of my comments is the one that is being referred to, please let me know. I would be happy to explain myself better.

I like alot of images in this challenge. Some are very good, but have alot of noise in them. I voted every image in this challenge simply of the beauty of each image...not so much on how shallow the DOF was.

I liked some very very much...but I also thought there were a good number that were just OOF or completely infocus.
All in all...
