Oooh-oooh! There you go. I hadn't looked at this image, other than the thumbnail in this thread. That title IS a killer for sure. Titles that tell the voter (me) which way to look at a photo, or give directions or lengthy descriptions, will usually trigger a negative response. Put that together with the current election season going on and I'm surprised it wasn't even more polarizing (more 1's and 10's).

I tend to think the same way with leading titles but feel this title is brilliant in light of the current election fever.

And, actually, I feel the same way about leading titles!

I always wanted the title on my business card to read: "Yes Man" â€Â¦ but the managers wouldn't let me ;)

The HR department would probably have let you had you used the officially approved title of sycophant ...

... or perhaps they mis-read it a "Yes Mon" and have a policy against proclaiming one's religion on a card ...

Does politics sway your clicking of the Helpful Comment box?

The 3 unchecked boxes are insulting to the subject and have nothing to do with photography.

I only saw 2 not marked, and a lot of the comments have nothing to do with photography.

I voted your entry a 1 because I figured you were a troublemaker and that's what you wanted. Also because I've been on the road with Obama for several months and I know that Michelle keeps his water bottles full of vodka! When they do that cute fist hit thingie watch carefully. Obama is indicating how many fingers he has left in the bottle in case she can't see it clearly. If Barack wins the presidency he's promised me a new cabinet position: Dept of Civilian Photography. So vote early and often for Obama. I'll see if I can get some federal aid for DPC and it's members. New cameras for everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would be even more fun to title this for the current Canadian situation: "We will vote as many times as needed, until the photographer gets a satisfactory result". :-) Canadian Prime Minister calls snap election

If the photo was of someone making a presentation to business group, or (dare I say) a preacher in front of his church how would it have scored? If you view it in that way is it an interesting photo? Does it tell me something? Create emotion?

Based on that criteria how do you think it scored?

They say to win you need more post processing, your image has very little. Therefore you will not do well in FS without some fancy stuff. Fancy stuff is worth an extra point and all those ones would be twos. Maybe LucisArt filter or an overlay would have really put you toward the top! Obama with an Acid Edit would have really sent it above a 6! And I haven't been paying enough attention but I think you now have to score under six just to get published in a magazine. So consider yourself lucky, you didn't score better or they would have to recall all the papers, and Pennsylvanians would be pissed.

I see him wearing the same wrist band in a lot of pictures. In your photograph can you crop close enough to see what it says?

As an Australian, I might say that an image of a politician, unless technically wonderful may hold little interest in a field as large as the Free Study.

Having said that I fail to see that it deserved even one 1 let alone 6.

As a matter of fact, I wondered the same thing as I was looking through my shots. I zoomed in on the wristband, and did some Googling to figure out what the deal was. The wristband was given to him by the mother of a fallen soldier.

As much as it pains me to say it I would have to say that politics do sway my voting, or rather would if I voted enough to count for anything. IMO part of a photo often comes from the emotion invoked in the viewer. I'm not a huge fan of studio shots because they often lack emotion.

That said, politics like religion and camera brands almost always invoke either positive or negative emotions. It is possible for these feelings to conflict and rob a photo of the positive emotion it would have normally.
