Has anyone tried fisheye-hemi??? Ken Rockwell seems to like it... but i'm a bit pissed... i just bought a Nikon 10.5mm fisheye, and I just bought Photoshop CS3 Extended (yes... i bought it... i'm one of those people who buys all my software...) so from those two purchases i won't even tell you how much money I blew...
Anyways... Now, I find that if I want to fix the distorsion of the odd pic that i take i have to spend $29.95 for this other program? why doesn't CS3 come with it? (or does it?) for $1000 it damn well should!!!
i will only want to fix the distorsion in the odd pic I take of people (in most cases I like the curved view)... but still, is there any other way to fix a pic like this?
Here is Ken Rockwell's take on the program... Click Here |

| I'm almost sure it's possible to convert a single image from an equiangular fisheye image to a cylindrical projection using the free PanoTools plug-in. You'd have to experiment a bit with your particular lens/camera combination. |

There is a Lens Correction Filter in CS3. You have to work it yourself and then you can save it. Filters/Distort/Lens Correction. Works pretty well
Capture NX also has a good one if you have that software from Nikon.

My experience with it is limited to doing my own corrections on images provided by the developer, and for these shots it worked immediately (no interface) and well.
I see Ken Rockwell used at least one of these images, plus others from the developer--I recognize some of the Image Trends folks in this shot (Mike Conley is on the right. We did lunch once ;-) ).

When I bought my 10.5 the salesman at the store tried to sell me some Nikon software for correcting the photos, The dude seemed a bit confused when I asked him why would I spend 600 dollars on a lens to get the fish eye effect then another 50+ on software to remove the effect that I just spent 600 dollars to accomplish.

Is there any fisheye lens available for around $300? I want one, but just don't have the extra right now since hunting season has started and I needed to renew permits and purchase some other items needed.

Peleng 8mm fisheye.
I got mine on eBay for about $250, the price has gone up a bit, but I think they're still under $350. |
