Hi, you knowledgeable people, I'm looking for some advice please.

I'm off to the States in October and intending to take a few gigs of images! I am looking at buying one of the new netbooks as they're small and I can use it as a computer as well as just a storage device.

Now, if I buy the Acer Aspire with Linux will I be able to transfer my RAW/JPG from that back to my Vista desktop PC when I return home or will their be any format problems?

I appreciate that this may see a simple question but indulge me please. :)

Cheers,
Wobble

Shouldn't have any problems. The data stays the same so you should be able to transfer quite nicely.

although im not knowledgeable with linux i dont see why vista or any other OS would not identify jpg/raw files transferred from linux OS,unless linux alters them in any way, so i doubt you should have any problems ! :O)

The latest versions of Linux see, read and write to NTFS file system formatted devices. So you can transfer them on memory cards, thumb drives, USB hard drives, or burn Cds or DVDs if you so choose.

Linux itself doesn't do anything to the files.
