If Canon is releasing two models (or more?), we can be sure that the D800 will be announced soon. The 'war' has just begun. Things are going to be interesting during the next couple of weeks. Enjoy!

Perhaps they're gonna go crazy and release a 5DII and a new 1D/1Ds (I'm guessing 1D), both using Digic 4?

If there's a 7D, in my opinion it will be designed to replace the 5D not work alongside it. |

you're probably right, but based on internet leaks I've seen a new 5D and a 7D ... maybe there won't be a 1D to go along with it ... guess we'll all have to wait and see ... I'm ready to upgrade, just waiting on the new announcements to make a decision ... |

What a tease - they're slowing turning up the light!
Photokina starts the 23rd, so at least we're just under two weeks away now. |

Some people are guessing that, because the moon progresses to Full Moon status on September 15th, that the 15th is when Canon will release details on the camera.
What a tease!

Interesting idea. Well, the dirty marketing tricks are working. I'm drooling already. =) |

This may not be any different than yesterday, but you can now see the letters "EOS". You can also see what they've blotched out: model identifier (below EOS), bottom half, lens identifier, etc.
The one on the Canon Japan site looks the same.

No 15th love... 8 days 'till Photokina...
Canon, could you at least leak the price? I'm dying to know whether to buy this or the 50D, and how much I'll have left over for lenses and light. =P |

5D MK2 or what ever. I just hope Canon users get something that they can be happy with.

It is, hour by hour.
When I first decomposed the .swf file on Sept 5th, I extracted 3 embedded JPEG frames of the "camera getting lighter" animation, and the movie.swf file was 192k. Today (now) there are ~32 embedded JPEG frames and the flash file is 414kb.
Interestingly, the page does pass a timestamp of hhmmss to the swf file, so it's possible (though unlikely) we'll be able to see it before the announcement on the 23rd. But from what I can tell, they've not left a loophole open for us to fetch "tomorrow's swf file". =) So I guess we wait.
Also interestingly, you can see that the embedded JPEG frames (left) show more detail than what's actually displayed on the page (right). It looks like they've added dark baffling:
Now before anybody (ben4345) gets in a huff about how much hype is surrounding this release, consider that if Canon's new sensor technology is as good as is advertised in the 50D (samples, samples, samples), and the 5DMKII photosites are 1.5-1.8 times larger (depending on the exact MP of the 5DMKII), this camera is positioned to be as revolutionary today as the 5D has been for the past 3 years. Only time will tell, of course... but just so you know what we're so excited about. =) Besides, competition is good for everybody.

2999 to 3299 is my guess. The 50D is the same price as the 40 was, same as the 30D.. or was it $100 less. So I suspect the same for the 5Dm2, based on the 'regular' 5D price of $3299 and sony's new announcement and D700 price point. If they bring this sucker out at $2500 or so that will really have an impact on things!
