My Arctic Tern photo is in the bird photography section the latest issue of North American Birds magazine. I was blessed and lucky. I observed the rare Colorado find, and several minutes later a friend showed up unexpectedly and I shot the photo through his spotting scope. Otherwise I had no chance of documenting the rarity or having a decent shot since I only had my Coolpix and binoculars.

Congratulations, Van. Moreso on being there and getting the shot. Being lucky enough to capture this shot doesn't take away from the nice capture you got. It's nice to see so many of the DPC non-Profesionals having people publish their work or buy their prints. This is a talented group of individuals and you deserve some recognition for getting this shot.

Congrats! vtruan
Great job spotting this unusual sighting.
I'll bet that sighting is or will be on many lists there in Colorado and elsewhere. Birders delight!!! |

Way to go! I can assure you I wouldn't have recognized it as being a rare bird -- good eye! |

Thanks for the kind comments. This was the first Arctic in Colorado, but I have seen them in Cal. Washington & Oregon. Van |
