Just a thought: I think the acronym 'imho' should be written in lower-case. When it is written as 'IMHO' (as many people do), to me, it becomes arrogant and is no longer humble. Now, if you just write 'IMO', I guess there is no humbleness about it and you just have a big ego.
But then again, I found this list of 'imho' and maybe that's the message people who write 'IMHO' are really trying to convey?
IMHO - In My Humble Opinion
IMHO - In My Hesitating Opinion
IMHO - In My Highest Opinion
IMHO - In My Holy Opinion
IMHO - In My Honest Opinion
IMHO - International Medical Health Organization
IMHO - Internet Media House (Russian media-buying agency)

Why must ones opinion be humble at all? Everyone has an opinion, you may not agree with it, but that's life.

It doesn't have to be a humble opinion at all but if you write 'imho' or in some cases 'IMHO' then you've told us you think your opinion is humble. However, by typing it in capital letters like 'IMHO' then you're yelling and yelling is not a humble quality. Unless your yelling because you're very far away! If one chooses to write 'IMO', then as I said before, I think they've taken the 'humbleness' out of their opinion and to me, it just becomes a loud, egotistical comment which is fine if they like that sort of thing.

Yes, I agree: I was not questioning or wondering about if people had opinions or not. I was addressing how people chose to convey their humbleness when commenting about them. |

I have used IMHO in the past, when I was growing up I was taught that when you use acronyms it is in capital letters.
Oops it's been 30 years.

Oh, ok. Well, I think it's capitalized because most internet abbreviations are capitalized.

Yes, but unless they said "IMHO THIS PHOTO IS TERRIBLE" then they would not be typing in all caps.

But if they typed 'IMHO this photo is terrible' they would still seem to be yelling about their opinion which in all caps would take away from the humbleness: imho. I am not talking about 'yelling', I am talking about the representation of humbleness. Typing 'IMHO' is contradictory to being humble and more about being HUMBLE! Does that make sense? |

No, sorry, you're wrong. LOL Abbrevations are typed in capitals, that's that.

SWMBO tells me that using all caps for acronyms is correct. |
