Well, since your DNS settings are with your ISP, there's no way SmugMug can know who is pointing domain names at them. In their defense, they did say that using A records could break in the future.
Though I guess they could just send a mass FYI emailing to all their paying members. |

According to the post on digigrin, they knew it would affect all of us because they used to tell us to use one nameserver, now they need us to use another. They are the ones who made a change. They could have just posted a message (in the messages area) on our websites, that's how they let us know about scheduled maintenance. |
