UGH - I love my new computer but every since we went to Vista, Firefox times out. I was told to go to about:config in Firefox and change something to true from false and I did that and thought it fixed it but no. Then I also read to set it for proxy under settings for connections and that didn't change anything either. Anyone know of a way to repair the problem? It doesn't matter which site either. |

I ran into problems with Firefox timing out when I switched anti-virus software (which included a firewall). I've switched a couple of times now, so I don't feel that I can accurately state which one was the cause of the problem. But easy way to identify the firewall as the culprit was to disable the firewall and try the exact same procedure that timed-out while enabled.
For me, it was a simple matter of visiting the galleries on my web site (example: //www.dterryphotography.com/AaronAndShereena ). The smaller images would start to fill out and then stop, sometimes completing (slowly) but usually not. With the firewall turned off, I got no such timeouts, in fact, the entire page would fill rapidly without the firewall.
Anyway, my point being ... it might not be Vista that is slowing you down. You might be using a new antivirus / firewall that is getting in the middle. Check it out and see if that helps.

Can't add much to help. Running Vista (same version) and Firefox 3.0.1 without (almost) any problem. So in theory it should work. Perhaps a reinstall of Firefox and a reboot will work |

There are threads all over the internet but every fix doesn't change a thing. I'll check into the firewall thing. THANKS!!!! |
