I thinking of an upgrade to my 20D.
It won't be this year. Possibly next spring/summer.
Thinking about the 40D or 5D. I just saw the post about the 50D.
So, depending on timing (and price) - it may be between the 50D & 5D.
Those who are familiar with the differences - what do you think would good upgrade. Is the 5D that much better to warrant the price difference? Or is it like comparing apples and oranges?

It depends on what's important and what you shoot.
Do you need a high fps? If so, then forget the 5D. It's only 3 fps.

Yes, potentially. But not for the majority of what I do.
Do you know what the DP Review info shows the following:
"Yes, 6.5 fps or 3 fps up to 75 JPEG images"
Why the difference?

At 6.5 fps you can shoot up to 75 jpegs depending on camera settings or up to 17 RAW.
This is when set to high speed continuous.
If just set to regular continuous then the rate is 3 fps.
