Artbreak is a site where you can list your photos for sale; they don't do any of the work, other than providing a site for you to show your work there. And if you make a sale from there, you pay 7% commission.
Seems high for that, but it's another place for displaying your work for broader exposure, and there's a lot of nice art work on there (so it's also fun to visit).
I decided to put work for sale there that I don't technically sell here or elsewhere--canvas prints. My gallery there is here.
I joined it a few months ago, but only recently started loading works for sale. I'm curious if anyone else from here is already over there, and if so, have you been successful selling your work?
If your there, add me to your friends list and I'll check out your portfolio.

Thanks. BTW--even if you don't join, while viewing any work, if you click "I like it" on any of the works, it increases it's chances of being displayed on the front page. You don't even have to join/log in to do that. (Only click if you like it, of course!)
(I also highly recommend looking around over there if you like artwork! There's some really nice stuff! More artwork than photography though.)
I also really like the little slide show widget they automatically use. That would be nice over here as well!

Never heard of it until now. I just joined up and still uploading images. Maybe I can make a $$ or two.

Hmm, interesting. I'd never heard of it either.
I don't think their layout is very aesthetic. I think I could do a better job. And charge 5% commissions? 3% for early DPC adopters? =D |

Well the more places we can sell the better. Exposure is what's important!
But what don't you like about it? I think it's pretty nice. |

I agree - exposure is good. And you wouldn't get that on any dinky operation.
I dunno - it's the whiteness, the clutter, the images aren't the center of attention... it's obviously a webpage and not a gallery. If it were a software company, it would be Microsoft and not Apple. Get my drift?

anyone had luck here? I've had a few "hits", no sales. Lots of great work there for sure!

It will be interesting to see how many sales you get, Neil. You don't really have all those "limited run" canvas prints sitting around, do you?

No, of course not. It's print on demand, but I will indeed limit the run. Perhaps that's a mistake, I don't know.
Haven't sold anything there yet. But these things take time. Certainly it took many months before I sold my first print on DPCPrints.
And I really do like the presentation there. The top widget showing the shots in your portfolio view is really nice. And even on the front page. I like to leave the page open in a window and watch the art go by. I think it would be cool to see DPC do something like that.
I thought it was nice enough I started to put my mother-in-law's portfolio up; she's an artist and sculptor. She sells out of her own studio/gallery, but we'll see how she does there. You can see it here.

I don't think it's a mistake but then again I don't know the psychology of an art buyer. If I ever do something like that I'd probably do limited runs also. And if I were ever to sell out a run (LOL) I'd be very tempted to do a "special edition limited run" in the future.
