I am sure there is an answer somewhere among all the wonderful threads - but I can't find it. So, in advance sorry if I missed it and this is redundant.
Is there a external hard drive that double as a card reader? I am wanting to take my CF card from my camera - but it in a reader and have it stored on a large external hard drive. I don't want the photos to ever be on my desktop internal drive. Any thoughts?
Thank you in advance!!

| Here's another one that's a much better deal, and an inexpensive enclosure that you can put your own hard drive into. |

YES!! That trekstor is EXACTLY what I want. Now I have to wait for B&H to open! Too bad I didn't find this there last week - my lights just got here yesterday from them and I could have saved a couple pennies on shipping. LOL Thank you Scalvert.
Zerocusa - really liked your option.... unfortunately I am having to buy this and a new backdrop stand. So.... yours although gorgeous - is not in my budgetary limitations. Thank you!! I KNEW DPC would have answers!! Thank you all!! |

Here is one the guy is a great person to deal with and the item will save you some $$$ off buying it from B&H.

| The trekstor has 500gb and the epson only has 80 plus it's only $150.00 .... I am all over that!! Thank you for finding that. I have wanted to get on Fred Miranda to look for backdrops and a backdrop stand but I forgot my info and when I try to resign up it says that email is in use.. :-( |

Glad I could help, but I should point out that convenience isn't always the best choice. The few reviews I could find on the Trekstor have been mixed, and I don't even know if it can copy data directly to the hard drive without a PC. Personally, I'd rather have a good external hard drive and a separate Firewire card reader. If you can deal with rebates, the above solutions would get you a 750GB hard drive, the fastest Firewire card reader available, AND the fastest 2GB CompactFlash card for $155 plus shipping. Pretty good deal IMO, and you can still copy directly to the external drive without storing photos on your computer. You could even get a Terabyte for about $50 more. ;-)
