I have came to the conclusion I suck at Photoshop. This is what I came up with from the original If anyone would like to see what they can do I have included the unedited, resized version of the original file. It was taken in RAW format.

It is cool. I think you could just burn in the flag and a small amount in the darker area of the clouds and be done. You seem to have blown out the highlights around the clouds in the BW version.

Here's about a 10 minute edit in PaintShop Pro 12

Levels (click black level on flag)
curves
noise reduction
Cloned out building
saturation
new raster layer, fill with black, overlay at 5% (a trick recently taught to me by  AP)
Clarify
White balance a touch cooler, to take the slight yellow out of the clouds and make them a fluffy white
contrast up just a touch
sharpen
My adjustment lost some detail, especially in the flag. I think I actually overdid it a little. Some selective editing might help there. Except for the overlay layer and cloning, I pretty much stayed within basic editing rules.

| Thanks for the comments every one and thanks yospiff for the edit along with your steps. Sorry I have not replied before now but my internet has been going in and out for the past two days. I did a speed test and was getting a big 700dn/22up. Can't do much at that speed, so I just got back from my local MediaCom office. |

i think you did a wonderful job in preserving the strength of the original scene.
(however, i'm starting to also like Art's version of the editing...OMG i think i'm sick) |
