So, I got a phone call tonight that somebody wants to use my picture in a book. They asked for the hi-res photo. So after we got off the phone, I went to email it to her, and realized, to my HORROR, that I deleted the photo a few weeks ago when I was trying to make space on my hard drive. I am SO upset. I have the challenge entry version of the photo, and I changed it in photoshop to 300 dpi, but you can tell the image has been stretched and doesn't look that great.

Is there a way I can recover the photo if I have already "emptied" the trash? Or is there a way to process the photo to make it look better?

Is there anything I can do?

Here's the photo that I saved from 72dpi to 300dpi.

A couple of Freeware programs here:

EASEUS Deleted File Recovery

TOKIWA DataRecovery

As well as several more pages of them:
Recover Search hits on SnapFiles

I know this is too late now, but as cheap as CD,DVD, and external HD space is today, there is no need to ever dump an original photo. You never know when you are going to need an original. I hope you get the photo back, but I also hope you realize how important an original, any original can be down the road.
