alcohol and cotton swabs work great... Don't use it for your sensor, but do try it on a lens...

Oh, and the 93% is greatly superior in performance..

I suggest hydrofluoric acid. Apply it by vigorously rubbing with #000 steel wool or 320-grit wet/dry sandpaper.

I guarantee you will be amazed at how quickly and thoroughly this technique removes grungy fingerprints.

I was actually wondering this the other day. I haven't gotten around to buying a protector thing yet. So thanks, good to know that I can use simple things.
The last one I bought I ordered the wrong size, and it cost more to post back than it cost.

nonononono!!!! get a uv filter on RIGHT NOW! There's nothing worse than scratching a lens and having to live with it because you didn't bother with a filter.

Ooh actually I do happen to have some real nice steel wool kicking around - SOS pads to be exact. Will that work? :-)

Yeah, SOS pads should work just fine. Just be sure to rinse all that soap off the lens when you're done.

Hmmmm... does steel wool come from steel sheep?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Snaffles, did I mention that I would be more than happy to clean the lens you borrowed of me. No problems, really.

Uhmm I don't know where steel wool comes from but I guess there are some steel sheep kicking around...oh btw Ray, stuck some steel wool and rubbing alcohol (just to make sure it got REAL clean) onto the end of a Q-tip and cleaned your 20D's sensor for you! It's nice and clean now! Wow, think I can even see the workings of the camera in there!!!! ;-)
