While shooting photos of my boat for the Motion Blur challenge I spotted this guy (girl?) in the trees behind me, so I took a couple of quick shots. Unfortunately, the tree was too far away to get a good shot with my 350mm lens. I also had both hands full of camera gear and was trying to keep a ton of boat from washing ashore and getting beached. We usually see a few of these every time we go out on the river though, so I hope to get some better photos soon. A longer lens would really help, but that will have to wait for a while.

A little blurry but a great capture anyway. I don't think I've even seen a bald eagle in ages!

We see them all the time around here. There are lots of peregrines, all kinds of hawks, vultures, etc. Our home is in the hills overlooking the Columbia River and the eagles like to land in the fir trees in our back yard. Whenever we see one I run to get the camera, but I've never managed to get a shot yet. It's really cool to watch them, and the peregrines, scooping fish out of the river. I've been out-fished by them more times than I care to remember. Instead of fishing I plan to take the boat out soon just to try photographing birds.
