Hey - that watermark looks familiar. ;) And on that note - I think its brilliant.

Can I make a few suggestions???

1. Make your water mark bigger so when it is applied to the image it covers the length and width of the entire image. It looks very small and although it would make it more visible it gives a bit more protection. Over the summer I had parents stealing pictures from my site (even with the right click enabled) so I made my watermark bigger and less transparent.

2. On your pricing sheets, limit the sizes to the XL. Don't go over that size because you have to scroll down to the bottom of to slide it over then scroll back up to read it. Then go back down and do it all over again. Limit the size to the XL and it's big enough to read the entire page at once.

Other than that I think it looks good.

I never got to the pictures...using FF 2.0.0.16 on win xp pro. Seems like you have the site in some flash debug mode -a window pops up asking me where teh debugger is located...then a window with an error listing...and no pics. A few of these come up and then FF crashes out and closes.

From what I did see the site is too tall - about 1/3 or more of the picture area is off the bottom of my laptop screen. You need to program for the oldest, dumbest resolutions unless you have a specific audience that you know will be running a given resolution. I have FF and some bars on the top of the browser and rarely surf full screen, but close to it. My screen is 1280x800.

And your tagline...seems like anyone can take pics of everyday so why pay you to do it? Making Everday Special says Why You. Could just be my mindset at the moment. Not everyone gets my tagline either.

Hey Erica,

Like the website, clean and simple. You can find my opinion on watermarks here.

(And by the way: "Right click protect" is a joke. I can simply turn off JavaScript and save whatever image I want. In addition, people will always be able to make a screenshot. So if you put your photos on the Internet, other people can save and use them. Technically, I mean, not legally. More on the issue in the forum thread I linked to above.)

Chris, not sure why the probs? I have checked it on several different computers and browsers now and everything appears to be working fine. Its a smug mug site, so maybe smug mug was having probs at the time?

I use FF 2.0 as well on vista with no probs on this computer.

and the tagline... I am actually changing my logo banner at the top, just havent put it up there yet. Its just going to say Essick Photography... make it cleaner.

I know, but some people dont KNOW that they can do that. If they cant right click they figure they cant save the file. So at least adds 1 more form of protection to it.

gwe21,
I was thinking about starting a site on smugmug and was wondering what plan you bought, standard, power, or professional? And the big question, are you happy with it? I like the site but agree that your watermark might be darker if you are going to use one.

I went with the pro version. I do like it, I dont have a lot of time to sit and try to customize though, so that part takes a bit of time for me. but overall I like it.
